What is Goita?
Goita is a traditional Japanese game that originated in the Udetsu area of Noto Town, Ishikawa Prefecture in the late Edo period. Using pieces similar to shogi tiles, two teams of two players compete for points in a strategic, mind-based game where luck and tactics intersect. Known as a masterpiece of Japanese board games, it is simple yet deeply strategic and is now enjoyed by board game fans around the world.
The Noto Goita Preservation Society, established to preserve and promote Goita, works with the Japan Goita Association to manage official rules and ensure proper continuation of the game both in Japan and overseas.
